The Attorney’s Role in Business Development with Steve Wilson

As the head of Osborne Clarke’s New York City office, Steve Wilson has a unique perspective on attorneys’ need to develop new business and manage existing client relationships. In this wide ranging conversation we circle around the role of the attorney and its evolving relation to business development. Other topics that we touch on include cross selling, non-lawyers’ ability to sell legal services and the challenges and opportunities that the digital revolution and the commodification of legal services have brought.

Digital, Social Media and Ethics with Ethan Wall

Digital marketing is no longer an also ran in marketing discussions. In many ways, digital is front and center. Within the digital realm, engaging social media is becoming a necessity. This creates a number of challenges, both practical and ethical. Ethan Wall joins me on this episode of the Legal Marketing Studio Podcast to discuss the state of digital marketing in 2018, engaging in social media strategically, planning content production and staying within the ethics rules. He shared so much good content I had to break it out into three separate episodes.

Ethan walks the walk. You can find him on Twitter (@SMLawandOrder), Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube and Instagram (@socialmedialawandorder). Oh, and he blogs about social media marketing for law firms, too.

And he wrote a book on social media for lawyers.

Recorded January 26, 2018 via Uber Conference.

Empowering Through Networking with Janice Roven and Davida Perry

Janice Roven and Davida Perry discussing the Women's Empowerment Networking Group on the Legal Marketing Studio podcast with host Michael Meyer.

Networking is a crucial part of any business development toolkits. A graphic designer I met through my own networking told me about the Women’s Empowerment Networking Group founded and run by Janice Roven and Davida Perry, and I was struck by the founding story of the all women group. Janice and Davida generously offered to come on the show to discuss their reasons for starting the group, the value of being at its center, the logistical challenges and a bit about diversity.

Recorded May 26, 2017 in the offices of Schwartz Perry & Heller LLP.
